Established in 1884, Breitling has racked up well over a century in watchmaking, and during that time it has produced some pretty impressive watches. You know the ones we’re referring to. Breitling Superocean
The Breitling Superocean is a watch that demonstrated Breitling’s versatility as a watchmaker, proving that it not only catered for pilots in the sky but divers at sea, too. The legible dial and sporty rubber strap on this Superocean—reference A17360—make this perfect for the murky depths of the ocean. What’s more, this model trumps the Rolex Submariner and Omega Seamaster on water resistance thanks to its whopping 1,500m rating—as opposed to the other two’s measly 300m—making it a true dive watch for professionals.
Breitling Navitimer
Endorsed by the Aircraft and Pilots Association, the Breitling Navitimer was the must-have pilot’s watch during the mid-20th century. With the ability to calculate several crucial elements for pilots—thanks to Breitling’s classic slide rule—including fuel usage, speed, rate of descent or climb and more, it’s no wonder it was so popular and recommended. Today there are a few different models under the Navitimer’s belt like the Navitimer 8 and World.
Breitling Chronomat
Debuting in 1942, the Chronomat was the first Breitling model to feature the rotating slide rule—contrary to popular belief that the Navitimer was the first. Although it’s another pilot’s watch at heart, Breitling say the newer updated Chronomat—released in 1984— “appeals to men and women of purpose, action and style”, making it a versatile watch for all, despite its roots.
